Back to basics

I am write this new blog post and adding a new category to my blog this week called “Back to Basics” because I think it is time to get back to the basics. I have wanted to live on a farm since I was a small child and have been talking about living a sustainable lifestyle since I was 21 years old. That is a long time to be dreaming of something and not accomplishing it. Jump on board with the thousands of people who have homesteads and farms so that you too can live a happier, healthier lifestyle by getting back to the basics.

The basics I am referring to are growing your own food in your own garden for starters. In the next year my goal is to have a garden, buy a horse and build a big barn.  I want cattle, chickens, a dog, a couple of amazing mousers (I already have my cat Lucy who rocks at mousing) and of course room to grow and to expand the variety of living things I may want in the future! Like goats and sheep…

To me self-sufficiency and living a sustainable life is by far the healthiest choice a human-being can make! Viewing the direction the world is going for the past couple of decades, the ones who choose this lifestyle will survive and be the remaining few.

Growing your own garden

In growing your own garden you know what is in the earth, fertilizer used and how they were grown. I’ve chosen herlium seeds and will save seeds when I harvest the fruits and vegetables I grow. You are in control of what goes in your gut. Using natural ingredients to tame weeds and get rid of pests that way you know your family is safe eating every single food item you put on the kitchen table from your own garden.

Growing a homestead

I want to have the best homestead I can create and already have plans under way for this amazing next phase of my life. I am very excited and want to bring my experiences and learning to you to inspire you to do the same. When living with autoimmune diseases the way you have to eat can get very expensive and this is a great way to save money, working on bettering yourself in so many ways and being outside in nature is just an added bonus.

Growing a new lifestyle

What you set your mind on doing you can accomplish. Start with a plan and work towards it. If you want it bad enough and run your own life the goal is attainable. To me self-sufficiency and living a sustainable life is by far the healthiest choice a human-being can make! Healing Crohns Disease Naturally

I wrote this post when I was bedridden with chronic pain from Crohn’s disease. This is a summation of what my blog offers an individual who has been diagnosed with Crohns and/or Colitis who wants to avoid prescription drugs and surgery like I have.  Also, for individuals who have been suffering a long time and want their life back. Finding healing naturally will change your life!

I know that when in a flare the stigma has us all pegged as needing a bathroom asap, that we have diariah all the time, that Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis is all about bowel movements. When symptoms are present it’s like this to a degree but it’s about so much more!

Pain, pain and more pain! Chronic pain! Iritis pain, debilitating arthritis pain, mouth ulcers, debilitating pain in small intestine, colon and bowel. Debilitating weakness and utter exhaustion, weight lose/gain, constipation, diarrhea, and liver or bladder pain.

Our immune system is weakened, leaky gut syndrome is usually the cause. When your immune system tries to fight off the invading microorganism, an abnormal immune response causes the immune system to attack the cells in the digestive tract.

  • Colon, bowel and small intestine pain. The pain often is described as cramping and intermittent, and the stomach may be sore when touched. Pain may turn to a dull, constant ache as the condition gets worse.
  • Fever or other symptoms that affect the entire body may develop. A high fever may mean that you have an infection, such as an abscess, inflammation or infection.
  • Weight loss. Ongoing symptoms, such as diarrhea, can lead to weight loss.
  • Too few red blood cells (anemia). People with Crohn’s disease develop anemia because of low iron levels caused by bloody stools or the intestinal inflammation itself.
  • Small tears in the anus (anal fissures) that may go away, but come back again.
  • Inflammation of skin, eyes and joints
  • Inflammation of the liver or bile ducts
  • Delayed growth In children
  • Diarrhea is a common problem for people with Crohn’s disease. Intensified intestinal cramping also can contribute to loose stools.
  • Abdominal pain and cramping. Inflammation and ulceration can affect the normal movement of contents through your digestive tract and may lead to pain and cramping. You may experience anything from slight discomfort to severe pain, including nausea and vomiting.
  • You might notice bright red blood in the toilet bowl or darker blood mixed with your stool. You can also have bleeding you don’t see (occult blood).
  • Mouth sores: ulcers in your mouth similar to canker sores.
  • Reduced appetite and weight loss. Abdominal pain and cramping and the inflammatory reaction in the wall of your bowel affects both your appetite and your ability to digest and absorb food.
  • Perianal disease: pain or drainage near or around the anus due to inflammation from a tunnel into the skin (fistula).
  • Higher risk of colon cancer
  • Depression
  • Brain function altered

I can’t believe how many people with Crohns and Colitis don’t get that the foods we eat affect our digestive track. Obviously, if our Crohns is flared you have ulcers in either your small intestine, colon and bowel and possibly your stomach and mouth. Having Colitis the ulcers are in the lining of your colon so, it makes sense that what we eat is having an affect on our GI Track.

This is a personal view of how I live my life and what I have done to change my lifestyle. Specifically, when in a flare and recovery.

One of the most important lifestyle changes I made was to remove negative aspects from my life. In order for healing to begin I had to remove toxic people, change my work and living environment and focus solely on myself.

Nothing in my life was working. It all had to go! Best decisions I ever made!

Spring has finally arrived and I can’t wait to get outside more to absorb vitamin D and get some colour on my blinding white legs. 😉

01/16/15 – 01/16/17

January 16th….Today is a big day for me! It marks two years since I started this amazing Homeopathy and Biofeedback healing, recovery and finding my authentic self journey. I am so grateful I found Phyllis my homeopath who saved my life.

You can not imagine the relief I felt two years ago when I walked out of Natural Remedies the Homeopathic Office in the town I lived in, knowing that I had hope, a future, someone who knew how to help me regain my health and finally a diagnosis. I finally knew what was wrong with me, what I had been dealing with since I was 9 years old.  It had a name, I had words that would lead me to research and find ways I could make my life easier and manage these diseases.

It had crossed my mind to go to a homeopath but I probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for a coworker at my last job who’s son had gone through an incredibly scary time just before I started working there and was also saved by Phyllis, homeopathy and biofeedback. Listening to her tell his story and how she struggled to find her son help, along with how biofeedback and holistic remedies helped him, convinced me that this was what I needed since western medicine nor doctors were unable to help me either.

I am grateful for Kathy and Phyllis who came into my life at just the right time!

On January 12th and 13th last week I felt a huge difference in my thinking ability, processing, and clarity.  Crohns symptoms, energy and overall general health had improved a significant amount over night.  It’s so great….I feel like I’m getting back into functioning normally, I’m so darn close!

I am so grateful for every step I’ve experienced over the past years from fighting for my life to getting my life back.

Now that I know my diagnosis I’ve been able to learn how to manage and handle these diseases so that I don’t repeat my mistakes from the past.  I can’t guarantee that I will never have another flare but I can say with certainty I will never be this sick for this long again.  A usual flare lasts a couple of weeks or months not years when treated with change in diet, holistic remedies, homeopathy and biofeedback.

With proper treatment, allowing the GI track to heal on it’s own and taking holistic remedies a Crohns and Colitis flare can be managed easily. The severity of the flare is the only measure in that it will take as long as the body needs to heal from the damage of the flare.

[EDIT] I want to add that I am not in any way against western medicine or doctors. I could make a long list of the people and ways western medicine and doctors have saved lives just in my family not including people I know or have heard about. The theme throughout my blog is that they weren’t for me, this time, for these diseases.
