Why I took the job at Beautycounter
I live with 4 autoimmune diseases and by January 2015 I almost lost the battle to Crohns Disease. To become that ill I knew that my life was not working. I needed to change my lifestyle and make informed, educated, life changing decisions so that I could beat these diseases. In the healing process over the next two years I searched and researched how to heal naturally through diet which lead me deep into the health and wellness spectrum.
I followed many people who are a part of new movements in Paleo, autoimmunity and whole foods. Last year one of those individuals introduced me to Beautycounter on her Instastory talking about BC products and how she was thinking about switching to healthier cosmetics. I immediately went to their website and learned about safer beauty. Beautycounter’s branding is stunning, their mission to get safer beauty care products into the hands of everyone is inspiring and the products are high performing. I knew I wanted to be a part of this movement too.
Since 2000 I have struggled with allergic reactions to fragrances by getting sinus infections, pink eye from cosmetics and rashes from deodorant just to name a few. Beauty care products that are safe, that I can use and wear without reacting to or feeling sick was a search I was on for over a decade. I didn’t think it would ever happen, but here was a company that would give me peace of mind about what I put on my skin daily. I had to dive in!
A little over a decade ago I started learning about toxins and chemicals in food and cleaning products and did a huge shift in my home for the health of my family so, this was the next natural step in my healing journey. Seeing that BC had launched in Canada on March 14, 2016 I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. On December 1st I decided to become a Beautycounter Consultant hoping it would help propel me into the working world again and to try to get some momentum after not functioning for so long.
I partnered with Beautycounter to help share our mission to get safer beauty care products into the hands of everyone. We are working towards a future where we don’t have to read labels for toxic ingredients. Help make an impact on the beauty industry by educating and informing others on toxins and chemicals. We are a movement! Join me in being a voice for change, because we deserve it!
Over the past two decades, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. In Canada, Health Canada maintains a current list of close to 500 chemicals that are prohibited for use in cosmetic products and a current list of close to 80 chemicals that are restricted for use in cosmetic products. The United States has only partially banned 30 to date.
At Beautycounter, we’re committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. and Canadian law: We’ve banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals
I want to live a healthy life so I can be here to continue watching my daughters grow old and to watch their children grow and thrive into the future. This empowering career opportunity will also allow me to further my education in becoming a Homeopathic Practitioner so I can help save lives. Thank you Gregg Refrew for having a vision to change the world and making it happen! #takethejob.
