Being as sick as I was and watching my body recover I see how important probiotics are in healing the gut and how essential they are in maintaining the flora, fauna and healthy bacteria the gut needs to work at optimal performance. Researching the best probiotic and one that is soy, gluten and dairy free I found Ultimate Flora to be the best on the market right now. In Canada you can find it in the health food aisle in refrigeration at Independent Grocers.
Prebiotic & Probiotics
My homeopathic doctor started me on Silverlining which is a prebiotic and probiotic digestive enzyme supplement but it doesn’t require refrigeration, unlike Ultimate Flora. I have taken Silverlining starting on January 16th 2015 taking 2 capsules 3 times a day until July then down to 2 capsules 2 times a day until my visit on November 26th 2015 to clean out infection in my gut and to start my digestive track working again as it had basically shut down from IBD’s and anemia (lack of oxygen being transported to my organs properly) with great success.
On my visit in November 2015 the biofeedback machine reviled that I had Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis so the Silverlining was put on hold to deal with the underlying issues. In March I was put back on the Silverlining taking 1 capsule twice a day and down to 1 capsule once a day in April. I am still taking 1 a day plus the Ultimate Flora as they are different types of probiotics. The improvement in my digestion is happening slowly but I can feel the difference each week!
Probiotics
I use Ultimate Flora 50 billion to make coconut milk yogurt, I also take this on a daily bases and will for the rest of my life! Having issues with digestion I have to take something to keep it balanced and I find a probiotic is exactly what I need. It has taken 15 months to get my digest the way it is supposed to function using Silverlining so that I am absorbing the nutrients I need to stay healthy and balanced. Although, my gut is not digesting perfectly yet I can tell it’s almost there and I can’t wait for my gut to be functioning normally!
I will leave you with these 4 helpful links that are great resources for pre and probiotics.
